BACKGROUND
Quest was founded in 1994 in Portland, Oregon. The founder saw that major companies needed help with wireless mobile computing projects that often had barcode requirements involved.
Regional sales reps were added over the years and top tier suppliers including Intermec, Symbol and Telxon were added to the mix of refurbished systems. As systems became more sophisticated, custom software was added in an outsource mode. Quest added staff and facilities to support professional services that include, break/fix, configuration, specification writing, training and installation..
In 2003, Quest began providing custom software internally as a result of its acquisition of Distributed Data Systems DDS, a software company formerly owned by Symbol. DDS, located in Akron, Ohio, develops and services Quest's software line, VIA, which stands for Vital Information Anywhere. Quest expanded the strategic direction to include integration services for major ERP systems, starting with Tier 2 systems like Microsoft Great Plains, MAS 90,200, and 500 from Best.
As its abilities and talent grew, Quest later shifted its focus to integration with Tier 1 systems like JD Edward, PeopleSoft, Oracle, and SAP. Once compliance mandates began to drive the emerging RFID market, a business development director was added to help the Company's sales force learn the sector and be successful in it.
Quest has earned the business of industry leading customers with their innovative cost saving solutions. The core markets that Quest serves are Retail, Distribution, Manufacturing, Health Care and Logistics. The Company's customers include GE, Toyota, PACCAR, Apple, Bridgestone/Firestone, Cardinal Health, Penske Logistics, Delta Faucets, Tractor Supply, McKesson and the Veteran's Hospitals.
